THE STORY BEHIND THE MUSIC

PAUL GAUGUIN . . . GAUGUIN
- Gauguin In the 21st Century- he came back - stuck his head in a long island diner - the door shut real fast and his head was crushed - it fell off his body completely - he looked up and said something in French i couldn't understand i found oot later all he said was "what am i doing on long island?"

LEVITATION CULT
A little cultish levity. It's hard to get over the fact that people band together to practice withcraft and black magic of all kinds - and they call it religion. This song explores the fine line between tel-evangelism, snake oil salesmen, waco massacres, and hale-bopp ritual suicides. Along the way we jerk off to popular culture, myth and legend . . . like Icarus, who took the force of gravity a bit too lightly . . . discriminating mothers ask us about the chant that's used in the chorus . . . it's the Indian water song, a shamanic chant that celebrates life. Harry Blackstone was a famous magician back from the daze before doug Henning, who specialized in levitating live or pseudo-live subjects . . . the Challenger Crew, well they certainly went off on a well talked-about high, and our hats off to St. Hendrix forever kissin that sky . . .

THE NOW SUBTERRANEAN
Scratched in the sand, uncertain lines about a certain club that will forever go unnamed . . . the central vortex of all things surreal and digital, decidedly underground, and musically memorable all shut up in the same unmentionable city.
