ding ding ding ding ding
reich machines are red hot
     zig freuds are doodly-squat

ring ding ding-a-ling
     ding ding ding-a-ling ding

burl ives blows his nose
     shoots pensive glances at james dean
"jimmy get your lumpen shimmy
     english into this machine"

kierkegaard procrastinates
     invokes the stars above
cottons to a silver ball
     giving it a shove

scoring points in pointed ways
      energized
      his fingers splayed
he invents a thoroughly poignant
     pinball personality box

from soho down to brighton
     defying discontent
wishing to become somebody
     janis ian went

taking awful drubbings
     swallowed up and spent
the only world-views worth a damn
     before us flashing 'flippant'

at the bf skinner box
     a fragile personality
privately configurates
     incoherent ding-dongs

alexander graham bell
     pointing plucky digits well
stroking poking skillfully
     earmarked flippant from the start

forsooth he rings sardonic
     & dials into
     fauxbrow art
