the winnowing of his silhouette
it can't escape from sadness

out here on the graveyard shift
sensing that his break won't come
shrugging off this nagging sense
he'll not live to see one

trying not to think about the dizzy dance of disappearance
that consumes his neighborhood
a world of inhumanity spinning on its axis

like a shimmering bumblebee
his craft becomes
defiantly ascendant
slowing down forever

his soul unfurls such curious wings
far out and elusive skidding
well below the radar
