for bike messengers and other unsung heroes

one formidable rocket ship
zooming down the concrete
wind is skittering off me
stacks of chaos everywhere

bending electronic squee
over clogged up thoroughfares
gruffly bounced around
my puffy clipboard and receipt

aphorisms in my brain
frame ze atmospherics
bolstered by transcendent jolts
of boundless curiosity

tending to what's necessary
putting rubber to the pavement
knobby fingers clutching iridescent metal thorns
licks of flame around my horn

i catch myself throwing back
a dissonant and angry thwack
i blow its coldly pointed roof off
jammed in downtown
time bomb city
