"Tawdry Hepburn put on a surprising, entertaining show. When I saw them play at the Boat Club they proceeded to burn up the stage. Seemed to have the crowd alternately scratching their heads and amazed in rapt attention.

Tawdry Hepburn San Francisco alt rock loungecore They seem to like to play covers everyone is familiar with but, with a twist. Each time they launch into a cover you think you know what's going on and then, whoops, all-of-a-sudden the song goes off into a place that belongs only to this band.

My fave was their version of Lou Reed's "Walk on the Wild Side," but on this night the crowd seemed to really go for their version of "Can't Find My Way Home," which Tawdry Hepburn turned into something like a country-fried, June-Carter-Cash song. They also played some rock-and-blues flavored originals.

All-in-all an enjoyable, and too short, set. I'd recommend this band to anyone wanting to go out and have a good time listening to some skillfully-played, interesting music.
